Partnership

In country like Indonesia where job opening availability is very limited comparing with the number of graduate students looking for a job, drive people to look for non-permanent job according to their skill and experience individually.  People who works independently are having various skill and if those people create a group to do larger job, than they create partnership.

Last week, I discussed with my cousin who own a production house which using this type of partnership.  He is not hiring anybody except that maybe one administrator who stays in the office, but he has many whom he called “coworkers” who can be called anytime to do a project together.  One person expert in graphical design, one person video recording and editing, one person handle contract and sales, one person who has broad network handle talents.  He calls his office as “open space” where this group can elaborate the big picture and distribution of responsibilities among them for certain project.  Member of this group is equally experienced in their field so after such a meeting they can work on their own whether in their office or anywhere else.  But the most important things they have the same idealism so the work can progress in measurable manner.

Working independently needs a commitment and an attitude where they have to do things without supervision.  Discipline is a must, because they have to work according to agreed timeline, they also have a weekly meeting to review progress.  We can identify them from their blog, or website where they usually show their creativity or expertise.

From client point of view, these people are potential to be given a project.  From budgeting point of view usually these group can be lesser than if we choose big firm.  

Working with them is not complicated, but they usually required early payment. 

This type of partnership is a good way to solve the hiring issue, as long as you have skill which is unique and good personal confidence in dealing with people, find your group out there and start doing things together.
